Larsens Camp – Samburu Hotels

Larsens Camp is located in Kenya’s famous Samburu National Reserve
is named after Erik Ole Larsen, a legendary Dane credited with defining
the luxury safari under canvas.

The camp is bordered by the Uaso Nyiro River on one side; there is nothing
to see but pristine nature on the other three.

With just 20 tented accomodations, our all inclusive adventures offer distinct luxury African safari experiences.

There are 20 free standing luxurious tented accomodations each with a private balcony.

All tents are discreetly sited along the west bank of the Uaso Nyiro River with the result that the tents are bathed with light at sunrise. Each tent stands on a plinth of natural stone and all have en suite private bathrooms stocked with a range of Molton Brown toiletries, flushing toilets, constant hot water. Each tent features 1 king or 2 twin beds designed in chic safari style.
Electricity (240 volts) at Larsens Camp is through Diesel generators that are run at short durations and switched off for some hours. Being a member of the Small Luxury Hotels, our verge to being environmentally friendly and considering the times that our guests are back at Camp, we therefore have power on at the following times:

Bird walks
These are taken in the nearby ‘bush’ outside the camp every day with the resident naturalist.

‘Champagne’ breakfast:
Food always seems to taste doubly delicious when consumed al fresco, never more so following an energetic walk to a private location on the river bank to await a full English breakfast prepared by our uniformed chefs.

Sunset cocktails:
Cocktails, other drinks and delicious canapés can be served on the river bank or atop an adjacent hill while watching a spectacular African sunset.

Gala Dinner:
This affair is a fitting way to mark a special occasion, anniversary birthday or simply to put across that special message to someone nearest and dearest.
