Rekero Camp is a tented camp that sits in the midst of the Kenya’s Mara Serengeti ecosystem and is home not only to the greatest concentration and diversity of wildlife in the world but also the Beaton and Looseyia Family.

Our camp is set up seasonally (June – March) and caters for up to twenty guests in nine tents of which two are family tents. Gerard Beaton and his partner Jackson Ole Looseyia developed this experience and today remain heavily involved in supporting the experienced Kenyan managers Clea and Conway. The management is backed by a team of professional Masai safari guides and camp crew that have worked together for many years. Together they provide our guests with an in depth and truly memorable Masai Mara experience that remains true to its setting. This eco-camp is ideally situated for the annual migration, which is the movement of over one million wildebeest and two hundred thousand zebra from the Serengeti through the Masai Mara in Kenya. Every year the camp is broken and removed for two months to allow the bush and the many wildlife neighbours to return to the site leaving a fresh and recovered wilderness for the next season.

Clea and Conway are second generation Kenyans who bring a deep understanding of the Mara and the country a whole. The fresh energy and expertise has allowed Rekero to unlock new ways to enjoy not just the fine river bank setting but also the extraordinary wilderness that surrounds it.

Guiding is one of Rekero’s best known attributes and the current team, many of who started as junior staff members, are all from neighbouring communities. Through careful training and nurture of the life time understanding of the region the group has become recognised as one of the very best. They were rewarded by the Good Safari Guide in 2011 who named them as the ‘Best Guiding Team in Africa”.
