Location: 2km from Ruhuruini gate.

Accommodation: A forest camp with 2 accommodation cabins. The first cabin has got four single beds, while the second Cabin has got two double beds. An unfurnished aluminum hut is also available for the use of drivers and domestic staff.

  • Bathroom: Outside Washroom with lavatory and shower (hot water).
  • Sitting room: There is a simply furnished sitting room with a log fire and door leading to a veranda.
  • Dining area: The sitting room has a dining table and chairs
  • Kitchen: Equipped with a wood burning stove and a gas stove, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery, and glasses.
  • Provided: Caretaker and kerosene lamps
  • Access: 4WD is recommended all year round and essential in the rainy seasons.

Park highlights: Spectacular waterfalls, moorland scenery, and colorful flora.

Activities: Trout fishing, (fishing license available at the Park Gate), walking, trekking, and climbing

Wildlife: Includes; elephant, sykes’ and colobus monkey, leopard, lion, black rhino, giant forest hog, bushbuck, buffalo, bush duiker, suni, serval, reedbuck, eland and rare bongo antelope.

Birds: The prolific birdlife features 250 recorded species.

How to get there:

  • By road: There are several gates into the Park via Nyeri (Treetops Gate is the most popular entry point), or via Naivasha, (the shortest route from Nairobi) to Mutubio Gate. The closest gate to the Tusk camp is Ruhuiruini gate (2 km away) but you should confirm road condition at the time of booking.
  • By air: There is an airstrip at Mweiga Park HQ.
  • Roads: 4WD vehicles are recommended all year round and are essential during the rainy seasons.

Open: Daily 6.00 a.m.- 7.00 p.m. including public holidays. Note: no entry is allowed on foot and visitors will not be allowed entry after 6.15 p.m.

SafariCard’ required? Entry is by Safari Card only; cards can be obtained and loaded only at the Park HQ at Mweiga (close to Treetops Gate).

Accommodation charges:

  • In the months of April, August and December( Holiday rate)  we charge Citizens & Residents kshs 7000, Non residents USD 120 for the whole banda not per person.
  • Rest of the year ( Regular rate ) we charge Citizens & Residents  kshs 6000,  Non residents USD 100 for the whole banda, not per person.
